Frequently Asked Questions

Is gas included with my booking? The short answer is 'Yes'. If you're away for a few days to a week we will take the vehicle to our local LPG station (Henlow Lakes) once you return and we will fill ourselves. LPG filling is a scary concept and most people would like to avoid it. If you're happy to fill upon your return (would be much appreciated) or on a longer trip where you might need to consider filling up, so you don't run out yourselves, please follow the instructional video on our website. If both bottles were completely empty it would cost about £15, so it's quite inexpensive. The trouble is finding somewhere to fill, this website (www.filllpg.co.uk) is good but very slow, be patient for loading.

How long do the gas bottles last? This is tricky to answer, it depends on how much you use, ba-dum-cha. These bottles would easily last a whole week in winter, with lots of heating, hot water and cooking use from a non experienced camper. An experienced camper would make them last around 2 weeks in winter. In the summer without the use of heating but only cooking and hot water usage it would last between 6-8 weeks. I hope that helps.

What does the awning come with?An awning pole for extending and retracting, two Thule guy ropes, 2 large Thule pegs and a peg hammer. Please watch the instructional video on how to set up and pack away. I would advise two people do this. The awning is designed for shade in the summer and light rain in the winter. It will not withstand windy days and must be packed away overnight or leaving the vehicle unattended. Experience Alert! Trust me, you do not want to be woken up at 2am and having to pack it away as the wind has picked up and it sounds like its going to fly away.
-
Are the bike racks lockable? No, the bike rack can take four light mountain bikes but will not securely lock them to the vehicle, it just straps them on. Although they're up high and tricky for thieves to remove, without rocking the van, we advise you to bring locks to lock them to the bike rack frame and each other when they're on the vehicle.
-
Do you allow dogs?We do for an extra fee of £5 per day for up to 2 dogs. Carpets will be removed for the convenience of future van users. We can put down some temporary mats and we ask you to keep them off the furniture and beds. Please bring a dog bed or something for them to sleep on. The fee is mainly for extra deep cleaning that will be done but would appreciate an initial hoover/ clean around before the vehicle is returned.
-
What information can you give regarding linens/bedding?The main beds have mattress protectors and the sheets are 100% Cotton and washable should any accidents happen. They're washed in Non-Bio liquid pod capsules in a home that is non smoking and pet free. Please expect to replace these if heavily stained or damaged during your trip and I cant rectify. Please note theyre non standard sizes so slightly more expensive than regular home linens. You're very welcome to try and remove the stains yourself to avoid money being taken from the deposit.

Why would money be taken from my deposit? There are several reasons money could be removed from your deposit and these will be explained to you. The obvious reason is damage, both external or internal, if the deposit doesn't cover the costs then an insurance claim will be made and the deposit kept for excess cover. Please feel free to take out Deposit waiver insurance should you wish too. We will try to order parts and rectify the damage ourselves at a cost of £40 per hour as this is much cheaper than any motorhome specialist and we are quite handy at repairing simple things. Another reason could be missing items that the vehicle was loaned to you with. Sometimes items have been removed by mistake or lost and I will try to give you the chance to return it but sometimes the next booking goes out very quickly and I need to replace the item that day. Unfortunately this cant be avoided and the receipt will be sent to you. Motorhomes are really expensive to buy, run and maintain and sometimes the simplest things, like blinds, cost an absolute fortune to replace. Please be aware of this when using these items. If anything requires forcing then you're almost certainly doing it wrong and please follow the instructional videos and do not allow children or teenagers to figure out how something works, please show them.

When will my deposit be returned? This should be within 2-5 days after the return of the vehicle and will go back to the account it came from only, insurance requirement. This gives me a chance to clear the van, clean it, take photos and put it all back together allowing me time to fill in any reports and do a pricing search, should one be required. I would appreciate any problems being pointed out to me upon return and if its a simple fix i'm much less likely to charge you and would appreciate it being reported.
